P1167 Mini Heated Rear Oxygen Sensor 2 Maximum Voltage Monitoring Bank 2

P1167 Mini Heated Rear Oxygen Sensor 2 Maximum Voltage Monitoring Bank 2

Possible causes
– Faulty Heated Rear Oxygen Sensor Bank 2
– Heated Rear Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 harness is open or shorted
– Heated Rear Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 circuit poor electrical connection
– Fuel pressure
– Injectors
– Intake air leaks
Tech description
Replacing the Rear Oxygen (O2) Sensor usually takes care of the problem
What about the obd code?
The P1167 Mini code is triggered when the maximum voltage from the sensor is not reached to the specified voltage.
Symptoms
– Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
– Possible high fuel consumption
– Possible excessive smoke from exhaust
P1167 Mini Description

The heated oxygen sensor 2 (rear), after three way catalyst, monitors the oxygen level in the exhaust gas on each bank. Even if switching characteristics of the heated oxygen sensor 1 (front) are shifted, the air fuel ratio is controlled to stoichiometric, by the signal from the heated oxygen sensor 2. This sensor is made of ceramic zirconia. The zirconia generates voltage from approximately 1V in richer conditions to 0V in leaner conditions. Under normal conditions the heated oxygen sensor 2 is not used for engine control operation.
