P0617 Honda Starter Relay Circuit Short Circuit

Possible causes

– Park/neutral position (PNP) relay (starter relay)
– Park/neutral position (PNP) relay (starter relay) harness is open or shorted
– Park/neutral position (PNP) relay (starter relay) circuit poor electrical connection
– Faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM)

What about the obd code?

The P0617 Honda code is detected when the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a short circuit from the starter relay.

Symptoms

– Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
– Engine may not start

While the engine is being cranked, the battery positive voltage is applied to starter terminal of the ECM.
