U1008 Jeep OBD Code Diagnostic Procedure

U1008 Jeep OBD Code

LIN 1 BUS

For a complete wiring diagram Refer to Section 8W

  • When Monitored:

Continuously while the VTSS is armed.

  • Set Condition:If the Intrusion Transceiver Module detects incorrect voltage on the LIN Bus circuit.

Possible Causes
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
(D122) LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY
(D122) LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
INTRUSION SENSOR
INTRUSION TRANSCEIVER MODULE

Diagnostic Test

1. INTERMITTENT DTC

  • With the scan tool, erase the current Intrusion Transceiver Module DTC’s.
  • Turn the ignition off.
  • Arm the VTSS and wait 1 minute.
  • Disarm the VTSS and turn the ignition on.
  • Using the scan tool, read the ITM DTCs.

Does the scan tool display the same DTC?

Yes

  • Go To 2

No

  • The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed,
pierced, pinched or partially broken wires.

  • Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST – VER 1.(Refer to 8 – ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES – STANDARD PROCEDURE)

2. DISCONNECT INTRUSION SENSOR AND RECHECK DTC

  • Disconnect each of the Intrusion Sensor connectors one at a time and recheck for DTC using the following steps.

Does the scan tool display U1008-LIN 1 BUS?

Yes

  • Go To 3

No

  • Replace the Intrusion Sensor that sets the DTC in accordance with the service information.

  • Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST – VER 1.(Refer to 8 – ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES – STANDARD PROCEDURE)

3. (D122) LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY

  • Ensure all Intrusion Sensors are disconnected.
  • Disconnect the Intrusion Transceiver Module connector.
  • Measure the voltage of the (D122) LIN Bus circuit with the ignition switch Off and On.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

  • Repair the (D122) LIN Bus circuit for a short to voltage.

  • Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST – VER 1.(Refer to 8 – ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES – STANDARD PROCEDURE)

No

  • Go To 4

4. (D122) LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

Turn the ignition Off.

Measure the resistance between ground and the (D122) LIN Bus circuit.
Is the resistance above 1000 ohms?

Yes

  • Replace the Intrusion Transceiver Module in accordance with the Service Information.

  • Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST – VER 1.(Refer to 8 – ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES – STANDARD PROCEDURE)

No

  • Repair the (D122) LIN Bus circuit for a short to ground.

  • Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST – 1.(Refer to 8 – ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES – STANDARD PROCEDURE)
